  • Make a donation. Click to make a secure online donation to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, or write a check payable to "Cystic Fibrosis Foundation" and mail it to "Team Jonah P.O. Box 4326 Lakewood, CA 90711." We are hoping to raise $25,000 this year, and every dollar helps!!!
  • Walk with us on June 11th. Show your support with your presence and help us fundraise; we have lots of tips for fundraising ideas. Even if you can't walk with us, you can be a member of our team and help us fundraise!
  • Attend our rally party on Sunday, May 1st to help us "kick off" Great Strides 2011. Bring your family and friends! We will have yummy ice cream sundaes, an excellent silent auction and raffle, and a short video presentation. Proceeds from this event will go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Team Jonah's fundraising goal.
  • Donate items for our silent auction. If you have a connection with a business that would be willing to donate a gift certificate, voucher, or product to our silent auction, or if you want to donate an item or put together a themed basket, we would greatly appreciate it! We are happy to display business cards or brochures next to donated items. All donations are tax deductible. Please contact us and we will make arrangements to pick donations up!
  • Eat at Chick-fil-A on Thursday, May 12th at the Long Beach Towne Center. Between 6:30 am and 10:00 pm a percentage of all proceeds made with our flyer will be donated to the CFF and help us reach our fundraising goal. You can download the flyer here.

Fundraising Ideas

  • Make a personal donation toward your fundraising goal.
  • Ask about matching donations at work. Many companies will match the donation that an employee gives to a non-profit. Ask at work if your company will!
  • Send out donation request letters to family and friends. We have a sample letter in the Walker Resources and we will also send you the link after you register. This letter is ready for you to print and mail as is, but you can also easily make a few changes to make it more personal, such as including how you know Jonah and what your personal fundraising goal is. Some people prefer to mail their letter, others prefer to email it, and others do both. Your willingness to send out letters will help us reach many people that we couldn't reach on our own.
  • Involve your kids! An 11 year old Team Jonah walker holds an annual lemonade stand to raise money toward her family's fundraising goal; customers make donations in exchange for lemonade! Marikka's younger sisters have held coin drives to help raise money, asking family and friends for "Jonations." Involving your kids is a simple and wonderful way to teach them the value of service and generosity.
  • Be Creative!! Here are some of the other fabulous ideas Team Jonah walkers have done to meet their fundraising goals:
    • Have a Movie Night! Jonah's Uncle Trevor and Tante Star hold an annual movie night fundraiser. They project a movie in their backyard and provide snacks, dinner, dessert, beverages, and wine, most of which they are able to get donated by local businesses. They ask each attendee for a suggested donation to the CF Foundation of $20, although many people have given more. Last year this event raised over $2,000!
    • Host a Poker Night! A cousin has organized a poker night fundraiser in the past. He provides snacks and charges a $20 buy-in donation to the CF Foundation in order to play. He allows people to buy-in for the first part of the evening as many times as they want. The top winners of the evening win prizes, some of which he has been able to get donated.
    • Organize a restaurant fundraising night. Many restaurants offer fundraising events that you can set up with the manager. All you have to do is pass out flyers (many times the restaurant will even provide these) to your family and friends. When people come in to eat on the scheduled day with the flyer, the restaurant will donate a percentage of the profits to the CF Foundation, which will be credited toward your fundraising goal.
    • Host a home business party. One year, Jonah's Auntie Andrea hosted an Arbonne party and donated her hostess profits to the CF foundation.
